Astanga Vinyasa Yoga

About Your Teachers

To go to ‘the source’ of Astanga Vinyasa Yoga, is to go to Mysore in South India to practice with Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and his grandson, Sharat.

Tony & Stacey with their teachers, Radha & Pierre
Radha and Pierre are direct students of Pattabhi Jois and regularly return to Mysore to receive his guidance. Radha was one of the first teachers to bring Astanga Vinyasa Yoga to Europe and together with Pierre they run Yoga Plus, a yoga based holiday centre in Crete, as well as many workshops all over Europe.

Tony and Stacey first experienced Astanga with Radha and Pierre at Yoga Plus in 1999. Their instant connection with the practice and their teachers draws them back year after

year. Initially for the yoga, which then led to Teacher Training and later, followed by their Teaching Apprenticeships. In more recent times they return with their growing family to immerse themselves in the practice, to develop their teaching methods and to teach. Tony and Stacey have practiced under the guidance of Pattabhi Jois, Manju Jois (Pattabhi Jois’ son) and Sharat Rangaswamy (Pattabhi Jois’ grandson).

Tony and Stacey have been teaching on the Sunshine Coast since 2001. They offer regular Introductory Courses for people new to Astanga, Taught Classes as well as Self Practice/Mysore Style classes to develop students with an established practice. They offer a teaching style that reflects that of Radha and Pierre, to ‘guide without interference’. Tony and Stacey are both members of the Yoga Teacher’s Association of Australia. They believe ‘a teacher teaches a student to teach themselves’ allowing each individual to grow from their own inner wisdom.
